OOOUAR: Note From The Author
Need you to do me a favor

Hello, reader.
A quick note: there won’t be a regular Open Up and Read this week. A slew of disruptions have played havoc on the schedule; we return next Thursday.
Since we’re still in a ‘soft launch’ phase, it’s not too grievous of an offense (especially since there’s more fun stuff on the way.) Still, apologies for the outage of OUAR-age.
In the meantime, can you do me a favor? Tell your friends about OUAR. I’ve included a handy photo below for your IG story. Feel free to tag me (@jasonbrow) and @openupandread when you share it.
Add whatever song you’re in love with at the moment. I’d love to know what you’re vibing on.
Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.
I’m considering a promotion for the first 100 subscribers. If you have any idea what you’d like – a review of your favorite album? – let me know
In the meantime, enjoy an early photo of Sammy, a tuxedo cat adopted from a Brooklyn rescue shelter.
Sammy spent the first two years of his life in the shelter due to a congenital sinus issue. They thought Sammy would never be adopted because of his constant runny nose and daily sneezes (both require extra cleanup).
Challenge accepted.

In the photo above, he’s all black and white. Four years later, his fur has turned a rich mocha from sleeping in the sun—a luxury he wasn’t afforded in the shelter.
While he still has his sinus issues, they’re nowhere as bad as they were. And he’s shed his shyness. He’ll happily join you for a nap or a cuddle session on the couch.
We’ll return next week. Go out and read a book.
